What You Need To Know

A closer look at the advanced options available for foot and ankle care.

Advanced Foot and Ankle Care Options

At Artisan Foot and Ankle Specialists, we offer a range of advanced treatments designed to address acute and chronic foot and ankle conditions. These include regenerative therapies, laser treatments, diagnostic imaging, minimally invasive procedures, and reconstructive surgery. Our goal is to help patients recover from injury and return to full mobility as quickly as possible.

Amniotic stem cell therapy is a safe and effective regenerative treatment that can reduce inflammation and scars. Amniotic fluid is highly concentrated in stem cells, proteins, cytokines, and other important compounds. The fluid contains growth factors that help stimulate tissue growth and stem cell activity. It also contains hyaluronic acid, which acts as a lubricant and promotes cartilage growth, with no risk of rejection.

Diagnostic ultrasound is a non-invasive imaging technique for soft tissue used to diagnose foot disorders. A special probe emits sound waves into your body tissues, which are returned to the probe and converted to an image. Ultrasounds can create an image of the ligaments in your foot and ankle, plus the Achilles tendon, the plantar fascia, and the peroneal tendons.

Subchondral stabilization is a minimally invasive procedure used to treat subchondral bones during healing. Chronic foot pain may be a result of edema in the bone, which an MRI can identify as a cause of microfractures. If you are dealing with ongoing pain that has not responded to conservative care, schedule a consultation with our team to discuss which advanced option may be right for you.

Laser Therapy and Surgical Options

FX635 Laser is a Low-Level Laser Therapy, sometimes referred to as a cold laser, used to address acute and chronic pain. Patients who undergo this treatment can expect no pain, no drugs, no side effects, and no downtime. The therapy alters cellular functions to relieve pain, reducing oxidative stress and increasing ATP production. Sessions in our office last about 10 minutes while you rest comfortably on the examination table.

MLS Laser Therapy uses alternating pulses of various light wavelengths on areas that suffer from pain and inflammation. The light has a strong anti-inflammatory and anti-edema effect and penetrates deeply into the tissue to accelerate cellular reproduction and growth. Injured tendons, ligaments, and muscles repair themselves more quickly, while pain caused by inflammation is reduced or even eliminated.

Our providers also perform a wide variety of surgical procedures, including foot and ankle reconstruction and forefoot surgery. The goal of reconstructive surgery is to correct structural conditions that cause pain and difficulty walking, such as arthritis, flatfoot, and Charcot deformity. Common procedures include shifting of bones, tendon lengthening, foot fusion, and external fixation.

Forefoot surgery treats advanced cases of bunions, bunionettes, bone spurs, hammertoes, and neuromas. We always explore conservative treatments, such as physical therapy and changing your shoes, before considering surgery. If pain and mobility issues persist, our team will guide you through every step of the surgical process.
